How to cook rice in the Babycook
The introduction of starchy foods is an important milestone in food diversification. It also brings its share of questions: which starchy foods to choose? What quantities? What starches for gluten-intolerant babies? Béaba® guides you through this important moment.
The role of starchy foods in your baby's food diversification
Starches are fuel for the body. The different types of starch are made up of starch, a complex carbohydrate absorbed more slowly by the body than simple carbohydrates.
Starches, and particularly rice, are one of the basic foods from the start of food diversification. Your baby will discover them from the age of 7 months. The composition of the rice makes it possible to give a smoothness to certain preparations which one wishes to thicken, such as soups or desserts.
It is a highly digestible food that does not contain gluten. Thanks to its richness in soluble fibres, it is considered an anti-diarrheal food and contributes to the good intestinal transit of the baby. You can offer your baby other starchy foods: pasta, wheat and cornmeal, but also quinoa. Some starches do not contain gluten, such as rice, corn, lentils or quinoa.
